Ryan Kerrigan named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month

A monster opening three games in Ryan Kerrigan's young NFL career have already garnered him a high league honor.

Kerrigan earned the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Month honor for September on Thursday.

The linebacker, whom the Redskins took 16th overall in this April's draft, registered 13 tackles, 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble during the team's first three games of the 2011 season.

He also contributed a key interception and touchdown in Washington's season-opening win over the New York Giants.
