Search begins for Lauren Giddings' remains
September 13, 2011 - 07:21 am
MACON, Ga. (AP) - Macon police say they've begun a search for remains of recent Mercer University law school graduate Lauren Giddings at a Twiggs County landfill.
The 27-year-old Giddings from Laurel, Md., disappeared in June, shortly after she graduated from Mercer's Walter F. George School of Law. Her torso was found on June 20 in a trash cart outside her apartment. No additional remains have been discovered.
Her neighbor and law school classmate, 25-year-old Stephen McDaniel, has been charged with murder.
Police say FBI agents as well as police officers are volunteering their time to take part in the search, which began Monday and is expected to continue through the week.
