UPDATE: Prince George's County Police say a third sexual assault has been reported in College Park.
On Sept. 9, 2011, between 4 and 5 a.m., a female student was asleep in her residence in the 7500 block of Rhode Island Avenue, according to a release from Prince George's County Police.
The student awoke to someone touching her body. Approximately 14 hours later, she reported the incident to police.
This was the third sexual assault of this nature reported on the same day.
About 3:30 a.m., another female student was sleeping in her residence in the on-campus Leonardtown Apartments when she awoke to find an unknown male in her bed touching her breasts and torso. She screamed and the male immediately ran away.
Between 2:30 and 5 a.m., a female student and her boyfriend were asleep in the 4700 block of College Avenue when the female awoke to find an unknown male touching her back and buttocks. The female alerted her boyfriend who was still asleep in bed with her. The unknown male left the room at that point. The student reported the incident 12 hours later after it was determined the unknown male was not a resident of the house.
There were no signs of forced entry in any of the incidents.
Police say the cases are not officially linked, however, the suspect description is similar and the off-campus assault happened a few blocks from the Leonardtown Apartments.
The suspect is described as a white male with dark hair. Individuals with any information regarding this incident or the possible identity of suspects are encouraged to contact police (911 or 301-772-4908).
