Sketch released of man who sexually abused woman in Fairfax
Police are searching for a man suspected of robbing and assaulting a woman in Fairfax on Monday and have released a sketch of the suspect.
A 29-year-old woman was entering her house in the 13200 block of Leafcrest Lane around 9:30 p.m. that day when a teen approached her from behind and forced his way into the house with her, the Fairfax County Police said in a news release.
The teen showed a weapon and sexually assaulted the woman. She screamed and the teen fled on foot.
He is described as an African American between the age of 15 and 16-years-old, 5-foot-7, with a thin build. He was wearing a shirt and blue jeans.
Police distributed a sketch door to door in the Chantilly community Wednesday.
“I'm scared,” said Winky Schultz, a neighbor.
“I guess I just have to try to do my best to look out and make sure nothing happens,” said another neighbor, Katelyn Lott.
The apartment complex is undergoing an extensive renovation, which means construction workers are in the buildings.
“There were a lot of people around. We feel that someone probably saw something, heard something or knows something,” said Lucy Caldwell of the Fairfax County police.
Chantilly high school is close by. Neighbor Paul Lott worries it was a targeted attack.
“I don't think this is an opportunity crime. I think that this guy could be problem,” he said.
