ABC7 has learned that Stephan Antwain Pittman, the Prince George’s County man accused of impersonating NFL Quarterback Vince Young, is also a registered sex offender.

The 33-year-old Fort Washington resident was arrested after being accused of posing at Young to scam money from people. He is currently awaiting extradition back to D.C. on fraud charges.

Springfield resident Any Willis claims Pittman convinced her he was an NFL signal caller and would invest $25,000 of her mother’s money in a business deal.

"What he had proposed to me, was to buy the spa I work at in Woodbridge, and have me run it. Said I guarantee this is a good investment", Willis recalls.

She says after she wired him the money, the deal died and her money was never returned.

Pittman could also be in deep legal trouble in Texas.

According to court records, Pittman pleaded guilty in April 2009 to a second degree felony for sexually assaulting a 23-year-old woman in Denton County, Texas. The crime is so serious Pittman has to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

But once convicted, he never served a day of his 5-year prison term, according to court records.

It’s because Pittman received what’s called deferred adjudication - a form of probation, according to Professor Gerald Treece of South Texas College of Law.

“It's a serious sexual offense and because of that you would wonder why a lighter punishment was given," Treece explains.

Professor Treece says deferred adjudications are usually given to people who have committed less violent offenses or when evidence in a case is weak.

He suspects if the fraud allegations in the D.C. area hold up, Pittman could be in violation of his probation in Texas and would have to serve that 5-year prison term.

“So this young man's got trouble not only because he's allegedly impersonating a football quarterback but also because he's got trouble in Texas based on him messing up or violating his probation," he says.

"Why is he out walking the streets? Why is he out walking the streets?” Willis asked. “Somebody obviously dropped the ball somewhere."

In an old online bio, Pittman claims to be a former pro basketball player and the owner of several companies, including a model agency, car dealerships, a record label and a restaurant in Italy.

Our attempts to reach Texas prosecutors for comment on this story were unsuccessful.
