Steven Cephas pleads guilty to killing 20-month-old child

A 21-year-old D.C. man pleaded guilty Friday in connection with the slaying of his girlfriend’s 20-month-old son.

Steven Allen Cephas pleaded guilty to a charge of voluntary manslaughter and is set to be sentenced on Oct. 28. He faces up to 30 years behind bars.

Authorities said Cephas was babysitting his girlfriend’s 20-month-old son, Dominic Kingsbury, Jr., in an apartment in the 5000 block of Jay Street NE on Nov. 8, 2010.

Authorities said Cephas beat the child to death.
