Sulaimon Brown turns over records in Vincent Gray hiring probe
WASHINGTON (AP) — A former District of Columbia mayoral candidate says records that a D.C. Council committee is seeking have been turned over to federal authorities.

Sulaimon Brown says the records were submitted under grand jury subpoena. A special Council committee is seeking the records as part of a probe into Mayor Vincent Gray's hiring practices. Brown is scheduled to appear in Superior Court on Sept. 15.
Brown has said that Gray's campaign chairwoman and other aides gave him cash and promised him a job in exchange for bad-mouthing then-Mayor Adrian Fenty on the campaign trail.
The Washington Post reports that in a letter last month to Judge Judith Macaluso, who is overseeing the Council's request, Brown said that he couldn't fulfill the request because he gave the records to the FBI.
