Suspects targeting Vienna residents in red light camera scam
September 22, 2011 - 03:00 pm
If you live in Vienna, be careful you don’t fall victim to a new scam.
Police are reporting that unknown suspects have been calling Vienna residents and informing them that they were caught on a red light speed camera.
The suspects claim that the victims owe money on the tickets. The caller then asks the victim if they want to take care of the ticket over the phone using a credit card.
Vienna does not currently use red light traffic cameras.
Police are urging citizens to never give out credit card information over the phone unless you initiated the call.
