Thousands of people lined up for the chance to get back to work Thursday at a jobs fair at the Prince George's County Sports and Learning Complex.

The county's unemployment rate is 7.5 percent. Compared to the rest of the nation, that's not bad -- unless you're one of those unemployed and have bills to pay.

With only seconds to impress potential employers, not everyone was "dressed for success," but others were, armed with resumes and sales pitches.

Almost 100 companies set up shop.

Job seekers were lining up, and some of them told ABC7 they were getting fed up after hearing over and over that the employers were only taking resumes.

Some were only offering temp jobs.

Robert Aiken of Hyattsville brought his 10-month-old so, Romulus.

"I need to provide for him; that's my number one goal," Aiken said.

And there was at least one happy ending. Aiken landed work with a security company.

"They're calling me on Tuesday for a job because of my credentials -- thankfully!"
