Tourmobiles on the National Mall might be making last stop
A familiar sight on the National Mall might soon be gone.
For 40 years, blue-and-white Tourmobile buses have rolled up and down the Mall, but employees now know their days might be numbered
Letter to the employees tell them October 31st is their last day.
While the National Park Service leases to Tourmobile exclusive rights to the Mall proper, many other companies that can operate on the periphery have sprung up in recent years, and they have given tough competition.
Yet Tourmobile's action may have taken the Park Service by surprise. Spokesman Bill Line said today, by phone, Tourmobile has the contract through December, not October. And that the park service is negotiating with no other company at this point.
ABC7 could get no comment tody from Tourmobile management.
