Upper Marlboro fire displaces 11
September 2, 2011 - 04:57 am
Eleven people, including one infant, are displaced after a fire ripped through four townhomes in Upper Marlboro.
About 50 firefighters responded to the blaze in the 3000 block of Chester Grove Road. Upon arrival, officials say the fire had spread from the first floor to the second. As crews battled the blaze inside, the front wall of a second floor unit collapsed, forcing them to evacuate.
It took about 45 minutes to extinguish the fire, which left the four affected homes uninhabitable.
No injuries were reported to any residents of the homes or firefighters.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
