September 2, 2011 - 07:42 am
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The Virginia Department of Transportation is suspending lane closures in temporary work zones on highways throughout the state for the Labor Day weekend.
The lane closures will be lifted from noon Friday until noon Tuesday.
Permanent construction zones with concrete barriers and orange barrels will remain in place.
Along interstates, VDOT says travel delays can be expected in construction zones on I-64 in Alleghany County, I-77 in Carroll County, I-295 in Henrico County, and I-81 in Roanoke County. Traffic delays can be expected along the high-volume stretch of the I-77/81 overlap in Wythe County.
