VRE resumes normal service after flooding
Virginia Railway Express says trains are operating on a normal schedule Monday, days after heavy rains caused major damage throughout the D.C. region.
Officials say CSX crews have been working since Thursday to repair tracks damaged by flooding. Although no major delays are expected today, riders should note the following:
Fredericksburg Line: All tracks are now open; however, several temporary speed restrictions along the route are in effect. These slow orders will be in place until the track settles, which may take several days.
Manassas Line: There is still a short section of one of the tracks that is out of service. Because of this, trains will be single tracking between Burke Centre, Rolling Road and Backlick Road on the track furthest from the station.
