Wreef Wafy Almutiri, infant, drowns at Westin hotel
The call came into Fairfax County police just after 8 p.m. Authorities say when they arrived at the Westin hotel in Reston they discovered that a 1-year-old girl, Wreef Wafy Almutiri, had died from an apparent drowning in the bathtub of a room.
How this could have happened remains at the heart of this investigation.
We know that police are trying to determine exactly where the little girl's parents were at the time of the incident. Were they in the room or elsewhere in the hotel? At this point, police won't say.
We also know that police are looking into who else may have been in the room at the time of the incident - like another child.
An acquaintance of the parents tells ABC 7 that the family had recently flown in from Saudi Arabia and investigators are trying to determine the diplomatic status of the family.
