Yonathan Melaku of Alexandria was charged in June in federal court with a series of overnight shootings at a variety of targets in northern Virginia beginning in October. He was arrested after police spotted him in Arlington National Cemetery after dark with a backpack that included ammonium nitrate, which can be used as a bomb-making material.

But that case has been on hold while he has been in jail in Loudoun County, charged in state court with a series of vehicle break-ins.

He is scheduled for a plea hearing Monday in Loudoun County on the larceny charges.
