7-Eleven hiring 38 employees for new D.C. locations
WASHINGTON (AP) — The convenience store 7-Eleven is opening two new franchises in the District of Columbia, and Mayor Vincent Gray will be on hand to thank the company for hiring district residents.
The stores will be located on Benning Road and Bladensburg Road in northeast. The mayor's office says 7-Eleven will be hiring about 38 employees — 18 associates and an assistant manager at each location. The company has pledged to hire all of its employees from the neighborhoods where the stores will be located.
The deal is part of Gray's One City-One Hire initiative, under which the district government provides incentives to business that hire local residents. Gray will greet job seekers and thank 7-Eleven executives Monday morning at the Department of Employment Services headquarters.
