Alan Jackson coming to Mineral, Va.
October 10, 2011 - 02:56 pm
MINERAL, Va. (AP) - The Virginia town at the epicenter of the August earthquake has won a free concert by country singer Alan Jackson.
Mineral received more than 31,000 votes in the competition sponsored by eventful.com. Kansas City was in second place and Minot, N.D., was third.
Mineral Vice Mayor Bernice Wilson-Kube tells the Richmond Times-Dispatch that the contest has been a welcome distraction from the 5.8-magnitude earthquake's frequent aftershocks.
A date for the concert hasn't been set.
