Amanda Knox trial timeline: A four-year ordeal for the convicted American
October 3, 2011 - 01:52 pm
The trial of Amanda Knox and subsequent appeals have now lasted more than four years.
Knox was accused and then convicted in the murder of Meredith Kercher, who was found dead inside a Perugia, Italy home that Knox and Kercher shared.
Since the 2007 murder, Knox has spent her time in jail seeking vindication, repeatedly insisting that she had nothing to do with the crime.
After four years in prison and convicted of murder, Knox has a chance at freedom Monday when an appeals court decides if she killed her British roommate - a case that made Knox an unwilling celebrity and placed Italy's justice system under scrutiny.
Here is a brief timeline of the major moments in the ordeal. Click on the black dots to pull up information about the case.
