Barn fire smolders
Firefighters from three counties are busy extinguishing a barn fire in West Friendship.
When firefighters arrived at the 2500 block of McKendree Road, they met heavy fire in a barn filled with straw. No animals or workers were in the barn.
Four fire trucks with tanks shuttled water from a nearby school as firefighters from Howard, Montgomery and Carroll County put out the blaze.
The fire was partly contained late Thursday. The Fire Department will remain on the scene for several more hours separating and spreading the bales open in order to completely extinguish the fire. There are no injuries to report.
