A Council committee will hold a hearing Wednesday on ethics reform, which has been a key issue this year with several councilmembers facing criticism for ethical lapses.

Councilmember Muriel Bowser, who chairs the committee, has said she plans to incorporate the bills into a comprehensive ethics reform proposal.

Among the bills being considered are measures to tighten campaign finance reporting requirements; ban lobbyists from contributing to elected officials or giving them discounted legal representation; establish term limits for councilmembers; and bar councilmembers from holding outside jobs.
