National Drug Take-Back Day: Drop off your old prescription drugs Saturday
(WJLA/AP) - Virginia, Maryland, and D.C. residents can safely dispose of expired or unused prescription drugs at numerous locations during the National Drug Take-Back Day.
The drugs will be collected Saturday at sheriff's departments, local and state police offices and other locations around the nation.
More than 9,500 pounds of prescription drugs were turned in at a similar event in April in Virginia.
It's all part of the National Take-Back Day sponsored by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. The goal is to prevent drug abuse and to keep disposed drugs out of surface and groundwater.
Find out more, including where you can drop off expired or unused prescription drugs anywhere in the United States at the DEA website.
