Fredy DeJesus Monroy arrested, charged with attempted Takoma Park kidnapping
A Capitol Heights man was arrested and charged Wednesday with the attempted kidnapping of a girl in Takoma Park in April.
Takoma Park Police say that 37-year-old Fredy DeJesus Monroy faces charges of attempted kidnapping, false imprisonment, second degree assault and malicious destruction of property in connection to an incident on New Hampshire Avenue on April 12.
In the morning hours of that date, police say Monroy exited his truck in a parking lot in the 7400 block of New Hampshire Avenue and tried to pull a girl into his vehicle. The victim was able to run away and several passing cars stopped to assist her. Monroy then fled.
Police obtained a warrant earlier this week and arrested Monroy at his Capitol Heights home.
He is being held in jail on a $300,000.00 bond.
