Girl, 10, dragged into woods and sexually assaulted in Temple Hills
An unknown suspect dragged a 10-year-old girl into the woods and sexually assaulted her in Temple Hills.
Prince George’s County police said the girl was sexually near the 3100 block of Scottish Drive at about 5 p.m. Thursday.
Several witnesses who heard the girl calling for help went into the woods to help her and scared the suspect away.
Jonathan Lambert was walking along Scottish Drive with his wife when he heard a child's call for help and went into the woods.
“I had a feeling like I was putting myself in danger… I could have been killed," he said.
He walked down a trail and saw a dirty backpack on the ground, then discovered the girl and a young man standing right behind her.
“I had to go and help that little girl.. I immediately screamed out ‘ey’ as loud as could,” he said.
Lambert says when the suspect saw him, the man fled. He chased him through the woods and back onto the road, but then lost the man’s trail.
John Smith was with his 10-year-old son when he saw the chase in front of his house.
“I’ve always thought it was just a matter of time until something bad happened inside these woods,” Smith said.
Lambert, whose wife is six weeks pregnant, says he wants to see the suspect caught.
“She was terrified for her life,” he said about the girl. “To be that terrified is beyond human.”
Police describe the suspect as a black male, approximately 14-16 years old. He is approximately 5'5"-5'6" tall with a close haircut. The suspect was last seen wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and red and white shoes.
