Hazmat: Walmart in Halethorpe evacuated over bleach, ammonia throwing
A Walmart store in Halethorpe was evacuated after two women threw bleach and ammonia on each other and other customers, injuring 19 people, police and fire officials say.
The Baltimore Sun reports that 18 people were taken to area hospitals, including Baltimore Washington Medical Center, Harbor Hospital, Northwest Hospital and St. Agnes Hospital, Blackwell said. One person was taken to the Wilmer Eye Clinic.
WMAR reports that fire/EMS units were dispatched at 10:58 a.m. to the Walmart at 3601 Washington Blvd.
A hazardous materials team and 10 medic units responded to the incident.
Police say one person was arrested, with charges pending.
The store was reopened after 1 p.m.
