I-270 re-opens after nail, screw spill
October 28, 2011 - 04:33 am
UPDATE: All lanes have been re-opened on I-270.
Only one lane of traffic is open on northbound I-270 near Exit 11 this morning due to a nail and screw spill, according to Maryland State Police.
At 1:21 a.m., a truck traveling north on I-270 at Exit 11, Route 124/Montgomery Village Avenue, lost part of its load when a cap came off the truck causing several boxes of nails and screws to fall out and scatter across I-270.
As of 4:30 a.m., only the HOV lane was open. All other lanes were closed until the roadway is cleaned up.
Maryland State Highway Administration has been contacted and is sending crews to help with the removal of the debris.
It was not immediately known when the lanes would re-open.
