Jeff Jones, AU's basketball coach, signs contract through 2016

WASHINGTON (AP) - American University men's basketball coach Jeff Jones has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the school through the 2016 season.
Jones already had a contract that took him through the 2013-2014 season. American announced the contract extension Wednesday night.
Jones was hired by American in 2000. He led the Eagles to back-to-back appearances at the NCAA tournament in 2008 and 2009. American said his 182 wins are the most of any coach in the program's history.
The team plays its first game of the season at Richmond on Nov. 11. The first home game is Nov. 16 against Florida Atlantic.
