WASHINGTON (AP) - A new HBO comedy series starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus that is set in the nation's capital has begun shooting in Washington.
The District of Columbia's film office says the producers of the show "Veep" began filming Tuesday and are scheduled to film again on Saturday.
The former "Seinfeld" star plays a former senator who becomes vice president. But she discovers the job is nothing like she expected. The series will air in 2012.
The pilot for the show was filmed in Baltimore as a stand-in for Washington. Some scenes were filmed in Washington as well.
The D.C. film office says Mayor Vincent Gray has spoken with HBO executives about filming more of the series in Washington. The filmmakers are set to return in early November.
