Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority to be more transparent?
(AP) - The quasi-public board that manages the Washington area's airports is preparing for a meeting to discuss ways of becoming more transparent.
According to The Washington Examiner, some who've worked with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority say that's a welcome development.
Loudoun County Supervisor Andrea McGimsey tells The Washington Examiner that the authority has no mechanism for local officials to comment on its actions.
She says it often seemed like board members "weren't listening."
Items on the agenda for Wednesday's meeting include disclosure of potential conflicts of interest and improved communication with the localities that are paying for the Metrorail extension to Dulles Airport.
Some Virginia officials are pushing to take over the board because they believe it has ignored their concerns about the rail project.
