Obama slams Senate rejection of smaller jobs bill
WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama has issued a statement criticizing Senate Republicans for shooting down a slimmer jobs bill.
Obama says, "Every single Republican in the United States Senate has chosen to obstruct a bill that would create jobs and get our economy going again."
He went on to say that every American deserves an explanation as to why Republicans refuse do what's necessary to create jobs and grow the economy right now. The bill would have provided money for firefighters and teachers,
Obama and the Democrats think they've found a winning issue -- pressing popular ideas such as infrastructure spending and hiring more police officers and firefighters, all of which are supported by lop-sided margins in the polls.
Republicans call the Obama jobs bill another ready-to-fail stimulus.
