Occupy Wall Street arrests rack up as protesters, police clash
October 14, 2011 - 09:57 am
At least ten protesters were arrested in Lower Manhattan on Friday morning as clashes between police and protesters mounted the day after they were told the park they were camped out in wouldn't be cleared.
NBC New York reports that chaos broke out in Zuccotti Park at about 7 a.m. after the Deputy Mayor of New York was informed that the park's owner was postponing plans to clean up the area.
Protesters then vowed to clean up the park themselves, and several hundred marched toward Wall Street, where they were met by a heavy New York Police Department presence.
NBC says that police were pelted by bottles and at least one trash can.
