Orange Line power problems mean no 8-car trains Thursday morning
October 27, 2011 - 06:24 am
Lingering power issues will continue to cause issues on the Orange Line of Metro on Thursday morning.
Due to the problem, no 8-car trains will run on the Orange Line during the morning rush hour. Trains will also continue to run at a reduced speed between Cheverly and Minnesota Avenue.
On Wednesday, power substations at the Stadium-Armory and Deanwood Metro stations lost power, causing trains to run at a reduced speed in the area.
The substations at each station help power the third rail.
Power was restored to the Stadium-Armory substation on Wednesday, but crews continue to work on the one at Deanwood. Metro said Wednesday that they expected the problem to be fully resolved sometime Thursday morning.
