Paul McCartney gets married yet again; MJ tribute show
Daybreak Daily’s pop-culture glance highlights Paul McCartney, Michael Jackson and the usual head-scratching things:
PAUL: Per ABC News, “There's a new Mrs. McCartney in town, and she's got a lot in common with one of her predecessors. Famed former Beatle Paul McCartney married Nancy Shevell at London's Old Marylebone Town Hall Sunday. "I feel absolutely wonderful," McCartney told fans as he arrived at his home after the small ceremony of family and friends. Guests included fellow Beatle Ringo Starr and ABC's Barbara Walters, a second cousin of the bride.
This is McCartney's third marriage. Many thought he would never marry again after his bitter divorce from second wife Heather Mills, to whom the famously frugal Beatles singer had to fork over a reported $35 million.” http://abcn.ws/qP3ihO
MICHAEL: Per Rolling Stone, “The pre-concert news seemed to indicate certain disaster. Ticket sales were suspended at one point (and subsequent tickets sales were said to be poor), there was trouble with the line-up, and division between the Jackson family over the timing of the event all contributed to reports branding it a non-starter.
But apparently no one had bothered to tell the fans. On Saturday afternoon, there was a carnival atmosphere in the streets of Cardiff, Wales surrounding Millennium Stadium, where over 40,000 fedora-wearing fans blew whistles and danced to Michael’s greatest hits, which blared from local pubs.” http://bit.ly/pq1jeX
ZSA ZSA: Per the AP, “Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband says the 94-year-old actress is resting after undergoing an operation at a Los Angeles hospital where she also is being treated for an infection. Frederic Prinz von Anhalt said Sunday that doctors at UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center successfully reattached a tube in Gabor's stomach that became loose and led to bleeding. The celebrity socialite was rushed to the hospital Saturday.” http://apne.ws/nEvWQW
KARDASHIANS: Per Radar, “The first half of E!’s Kim's Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event aired Sunday, and while we all know Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries wound up exchanging their "I do's" in storybook form, the couple had to go through hell to get to heaven, as part one would illustrate. In the episode, Humphries got into a few flare-ups with his sister-in-law-to-be, Khloe, who groused, "I don't know what it is about Kris, but every time he's around, he wants to start sh*t with me, but I fight right back." http://bit.ly/qMbB4X
TV RADAR: Per the Los Angeles Times, “"Enlightened," which premieres Monday on HBO, is to my mind the most interesting and ambitious series of the fall season. (And when I say ambitious, I mean emotionally ambitious, though it is beautiful to look upon as well.) You can't really reckon it by anything else on television.
“Co-created by Laura Dern, who stars in it, and Mike White, who wrote it, it is a satire shot through with poetry. (The two previously worked on White's "Year of the Dog.") Its directors include White, co-executive producer Miguel Arteta ("Cedar Rapids" and White's collaborator on "Chuck & Buck" and "The Good Girl"), Jonathan Demme, Phil Morrison ("Junebug," Superchunk videos) and Nicole Holofcener ("Please Give"): an indie-flick super-summit.” http://lat.ms/owKyaJ
NET-NOT: Per indieWIRE, “Consumers value the simplicity Netflix has always offered and we respect that,” said Netflix CEO Reed Hastings as he backed off plans to split the company in two. “There is a difference between moving quickly — which Netflix has done very well for years — and moving too fast, which is what we did in this case.” http://bit.ly/qqLfax
REALLY?: Per E!, “Some couples are torn apart by infidelity. David Boreanaz says his extramarital affair made his union to wife Jaime Bergman stronger. . . In a revealing interview with TV Week, the Bones star calls his 2010 fling "a bonding experience, in the long run." http://eonli.ne/pymFnn
WEIRD: Per People, “Former Weezer bass player Mikey Welsh, who died on Saturday of an apparent drug overdose, eerily predicted the time and place of his death in several Twitter posts two weeks ago. He wrote on Sept. 26: "dreamt i died in chicago next weekend (heart attack in my sleep). need to write my will today." He then added a second note: "correction – the weekend after next." http://bit.ly/r9Rxh1
NO COMMENT: Per TMZ, “Bree Olson hasn't just "moved on" from Charlie Sheen ... the former goddess also says she's given up PORN for good ... and is now taking acting classes so she can go "mainstream." http://bit.ly/ohVpSS
