The Prince George’s Police Department is making changes to how it contains riots after two officers were indicted after allegedly beat a student during a riot at the University of Maryland last year.

The department has instituted a number of changes to its riot containment protocol this year to increase accountability.

All officers now have numbers on their helmets for clear identification. Each supervisor will also oversee fewer officers -- so they can keep better tabs on them. and that's not all.

Prince George’s County police spokeswoman says roll calls will now be video-taped, so there's photographic evidence of what exactly took place prior to a group heading out to the particular event.

The units will also for the first time use pepper foggers instead of pepper ball launchers, which allows them to target specific individuals as opposed to hitting the whole crowd.
