Police report rash of burglaries in northern Va.
October 14, 2011 - 07:14 am
FALLS CHURCH, Va. (AP) - Authorities are warning homeowners in northern Virginia to lock their doors following a series of burglaries.
Police say 10 burglaries have occurred in the Broadmont area of Falls Church and East Falls Church in Arlington between Sept. 2 and Oct. 9. Most of the burglaries occurred between 6 p.m. and 3 a.m.
The burglars have kicked in doors with deadbolt locks or walked in through unlocked doors. In one Arlington break-in, residents were at home at the time of the burglary.
Many of the homes that have been hit are near the East Falls Church Metro Station. Police believe the suspects may be using the Metro as an easy getaway.
