October 26, 2011 - 12:07 pm
In the light of a recent spate of major injuries, the Washington Redskins added a tight end and an offensive lineman to their 53-man roster.
The team announced Wednesday that they signed tight end Dominique Byrd and offensive lineman Jonathan Compas.
In the last two weeks, the Redskins have lost two starters at those positions, TE Chris Cooley and OL Kory Lichtensteiger, to season-ending injuries.
Byrd, a 3rd round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft, has played for St. Louis, Arizona and Seattle. Compas has bounced from Oakland to Tampa Bay to New England in his two-year career.
The Redskins also added running back Tristan Davis to their practice squad.
