Reward offered in fatal hit-and-run in LaPlata
Charles County Police are offering a cash reward in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash in LaPlata.
Authorities are looking for the driver of a truck or SUV that struck and killed 57-year-old Darrell Gene Sallie on Route 6 about 8 p.m. on March 24.
An investigation revealed that Sallie had been walking on the shoulder of the roadway, near Perry Road, when he was hit by a truck traveling west on Route 6. He was discovered by a passer-by the next morning, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the striking vehicle may have been a late 1990’s Ford truck or Expedition with front grill damage. Although, the damage may have been replaced by now, authorities say.
Maryland State Police are assisting with the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 301.392.1201. All callers may remain anonymous.
