Robert McIntyre sentenced to 40 years for killing daughter
A father who pleaded guilty to killing his 17-year-old daughter was sentenced to 40 years behind bars
Rodney McIntyre, who was charged in May, was sentenced Friday in D.C. Superior Court. He earlier pleaded guilty to first degree murder. McIntyre worked for an after-school program at Meyer Elementary School.
Court documents state that Ebony Franklin was stabbed 15 times and her body left in a trash dumpster in Columbia Heights on Nov. 25, 2010. The documents stated that DNA from the victim’s father, McIntyre, 45, was found inside the victim.
In a previous court appearance, prosecutors said Franklin was dropped off in Columbia Heights to see her biological father so they could exchange Christmas gifts. A trace of cell phone records, prosecutors said, show that the two communicated with eachother.
Prosecutors said McIntyre admitted that he had his daughter’s cell phone and threw it away.
Authorities said McIntyre used the cellphone to send a text message to the victim’s mother saying:
“Remember.the.bitch.told.on.my.man.now.yoo.get.her.out.the.trash.”
Authorities also said McIntyre had a sexual relationship with the victim.
