WASHINGTON (AP) - The Rev. Al Sharpton and other labor, education and civil rights leaders are holding a rally and march this weekend to the newly opened Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial.

The March on Washington for Jobs and Justice on Saturday is intended to drum up support for President Barack Obama's jobs plan.

The crowd is scheduled to gather at 11 a.m. at the National Sylvan Theater before marching to the memorial.

They'll also be joined along the way by District of Columbia Mayor Vincent Gray and a crowd of protesters seeking full D.C. statehood.

Other speakers expected at Saturday's rally include Education Secretary Arne Duncan and Randi Weingarten of the American Federation of Teachers.

The permit for the Sharpton events lists an expected crowd of 5,000.
