Shell gas station gives $20 in free gas in Laurel

A Shell gas station in Laurel is giving $20 worth of free gas this morning.

Between 6:30 and 9:30 a.m., the Shell gas station at Route 1 and 198 is offering people the deal.

The giveaway is part of a promotion to get ready for the second season premiere of Gold Rush.

According to the Discovery Channel website, gas stations in the D.C. area, Los Angeles and Chicago will be participating.

Lines of cars were waiting to cash in on the deal and signs could be seen outside saying free gas.

The gas station owner said he expected to go through six or seven thousand gallons of gas in the three-hour period.
