Tornado Watch issued for D.C. area
The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado watch for D.C. and some parts of Maryland and Virginia.
The tornado watch is in effect for Montgomery, Prince George's, Anne Arundel and several other counties in Maryland.
In Virginia, the watch is in effect for Arlington, Culpeper, Fairfax, Prince William, Stafford, Loudoun and Fauquier counties.
The NWS also says a suspected tornado has been reported in Virginia's Louisa County, the epicenter of August's 5.8-magnitude earthquake.
Meteorologist Dan Proch in the weather service's Wakefield office said law enforcement personnel reported the suspected tornado Thursday afternoon and said one house had been damaged.
There are no reports of injuries.
Proch said the suspected tornado has moved out of Louisa County.
He said a weather service team could be in Louisa County as early as Friday to survey the damage and determine if the event was indeed a tornado.
