William Hurlbut sentenced to more than 20 years on child porn charges
October 7, 2011 - 12:05 pm
A 29-year-old Fredericksburg man has been sentenced to more than 20 years in jail Friday on child pornography charges, including ones in which he performed sexual acts on a child.
William Hurlbut, a former Aquia Harbour police officer and member of the Chancellor Volunteer Fire and Rescue squad, pleaded guilty to producing child pornography this past June.
Hurlbut admitted to the court that he filmed himself performing sexual acts on a sleeping 8-year-old boy, whom he had known for nearly his entire life, in 2009. Authorities later found more than 2,000 pornographic images and videos depicting children.
He will face 25 years of supervised release upon the completion of his 250 months in prison.
