World Series Game 3 preview: Rangers, Cardinals enter game tied at 1
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — After gaining a split of the opening two games of the World Series in St. Louis with Thursday night's 2-1 come-from-behind victory over the Cardinals, the Rangers will play the next three games in their ballpark. Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday night.
The Rangers were a good road team during the regular season, going 44-37 away from home. But they were outstanding at home, where they posted a 52-29 mark.
The Rangers will send Matt Harrison to the mound to face Kyle Lohse.
There might be a little more scoring the next three games because each team adds a designated hitter, with the AL rule in effect at Texas.
Cardinals manager Tony La Russa will make Lance Berkman the DH and put Allen Craig — already with a pair of key pinch-hit RBI singles — in right field.
The Rangers will likely use Michael Young at DH, move catch Mike Napoli to first base and put Yorvit Torrealba at catcher.
Cards third baseman David Freese is working on a 12-game postseason hitting streak that began with Game 2 of the division series.
