RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Eight local governments and the state are receiving federal disaster assistance to help recover from the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee, which caused heavy flooding in Virginia in September.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency approved the aid Thursday.
Gov. Bob McDonnell requested assistance for Caroline, Essex, Fairfax, King and Queen, King George, Prince William and Westmoreland counties and the city of Alexandria. The aid will help those localities recover costs of debris removal, emergency services and infrastructure repairs.
