GREENBELT, Md. (AP) - Authorities say a man who tried to rob a College Park bank last year has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Antonio Michael McCurkin was sentenced Monday as the result of a gulty plea. According to his plea agreement, McCurkin went into an M&T Bank on Sept. 16, 2010, and approached a teller with what appeared to be a handgun and point it at the teller.
The teller gave the 26-year-old from Oxon Hill, Md., nearly $1,600, which contained an explosive dye pack. The pack exploded after he left the bank and burned McCurkin's body.
The sentence was announced by prosecutors, the FBI and Prince George's County police.
