Baltimore-Washington Airport expansion to be done by 2013
WASHINGTON (AP) — Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport is planning to undergo a major expansion to accommodate future growth.

Airport officials said Wednesday that the $100 million expansion will include a nine-lane checkpoint, a connector that will allow direct passenger access among concourses A, B and C and about 8,500 square feet of food and retail space.
Plans for the expansion work come after BWI experienced a monthly record for passenger traffic in July, with 2.2 million travelers passing through the airport.
BWI's executive director, Paul Wiedefeld, says designs for the project have been approved by the Maryland Board of Public Works, but the panel still has to approve the construction of the project. The board is scheduled to discuss it on Dec. 7.
The project is scheduled to be completed by 2013.
