All lanes of the Inner Loop of the Capital Beltway in Montgomery County have reopened after two car accidents, including one fatal wreck, closed a stretch of the busy freeway early Friday morning.

Two accidents, including one that resulted in a fatality, closed the Inner Loop of the Beltway between Connecticut Avenue and Georgia Avenue.

Maryland State Police say the first crash occurred at 1:45 a.m. near a road construction zone. It is not known whether or not the construction zone was a factor in the crash.

Less than 20 minutes later, police say a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville driven by a 20-year-old man slammed into the back of a semi-truck in the same area as the first crash. The driver was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police only identified the victim as a white male from Mount AIry.

The truck driver, who police identify as Rudolph Wilson of Falling Waters, W.Va., tells ABC7 that he's used to driving in the conditions that were present Friday morning.

WIlson said he had slowed down to drive through the work zone when the car struck him from behind. Police say that speed may be a factor in the second collision and that the car had no time to stop.

Both incidents are still under investigation.
