Bethesda, Chevy Chase among 'smartest' cities
November 17, 2011 - 05:39 pm
A business publication has proclaimed Bethesda and Chevy Chase among the smartest U.S. cities.
After crunching numbers from the Census Bureau, the Business Journals ranked Bethesda at the top of cities with 50,000 to 99,999 residents. Chevy Chase tops the ranking for communities with fewer than 9,999 residents.
The journals used Census data on education levels to determine how ‘smart’ communities are.
Close to 64 percent of adults in Chevy Chase hold advanced degrees, the numbers show. In Bethesda, 81 percent of residents have at least a bachelor’s degree.
