The suspect accused of killing Germantown woman Jane McQuain was released from a North Carolina jail on Wednesday morning and is now in Montgomery County police's custody.
Montgomery County Police said Curtis Lopez is currently at the Montgomery County police headquarters.
Lopez had previously waived extradition and is expected to be returned to Maryland to face charges.
Police have charged 45-year-old Lopez with killing McQuain, who was found stabbed and beaten to death in her Germantown condominium.
Her son, 11-year-old William McQuain, was also found dead. Lopez was William McQuain's stepfather.
