Cyber Monday spending up 18 perecent from 2010
November 29, 2011 - 09:58 am
NEW YORK (AP) — Bad economy or no bad economy, shoppers were all over the Internet seeking Black Monday bargains — following up on the enthusiasm for buying stuff over the long Thanksgiving weekend.
Data from IBM Benchmark indicates online sales yesterday were up 18 percent from a year ago. And this year, it seems more people were willing to buy from mobile devices.
Sales from mobile devices were up 7.4 percent. That suggests Americans have a growing comfort with using PCs, tablets and smartphones to shop.
That's good news for retailers — who can make up to 40 percent of their annual revenue during the holiday shopping season.
