D.C. Wal-Mart stores to open in Fort Totten, Skyland Town Center
Wal-Mart has not yet even opened a store in the District of Columbia, but on Wednesday, the mega-chain is expected to announce that they're already expanding.
The company, which was planning to open four stores in Washington, now says they're expanding that number to six, the Washington Post reports.
Mayor Vincent Gray is expected to make the official announcement Wednesday that the two new stores will be located at the Skyland Town Center in Southeast and near Fort Totten in Northeast.
The other four stores, expected to open in 2012, will be at Georgia and Missouri avenues Northwest, New York and Bladensburg avenues Northeast, on New Jersey Avenue in Northwest and on East Capitol Street near the Prince George's County border.
Company officials say that the six new stores could create as many as 2,400 jobs.
